I've seen bullet cubes before, but they were likely from an industrial machine so they were much bigger. These are almost adorably tiny. (And the first ones that come out are even tinier. They get a bit larger after the machine has been in use)
So the downside is, the ice is very wet. It makes sense, it's made by dipping a pole that freezes water around it from a little tub of water. This means, if like me, your intent is to make enough ice to fill a bin in your freezer then use it as needed, you're gonna need an ice pick of some sort.
If you can afford the extra electric bill, the ideal way to use this is just to have it running all the time. It'll automatically stop when the basket is full or if the water runs out. As the ice melts it goes back into the reservoir. So you always have ice. (Though it does clump a bit even in the basket.) But the ice WILL melt because inside is simply insulated like an ice chest. It doesn't get cold inside, it just stays cool enough to keep the ice from melting immediately.
If you can afford it, I'd recommend going for a better one that keeps ice frozen inside and makes cubes. I wish I had just saved up and gotten one of those instead.
Fills a 48 oz mug of mine every couple of hours. The ice is great for crunching on while I'm having my drink. My Samsung refrigerator has the crappy ice maker that freezes over constantly. I don't even use it anymore because I like this so much better. The refillable water pitcher in my fridge is just the right amount of water to fill the unit up so that works out quite well. Easy to clean. Everyone complains that "you have to beak up the ice" or "the laser gets in the way when the ice stacks up." It's not a big deal move the ice around with the scoop. Enjoy!
I bought this used and I'm pretty pleased with it. It's not exactly top notch, but for the price I paid, it gets the job done and produces ice faster than I thought it would.
It produces some sweaty ice, so you usually have to ice pick it after it freezes, but if you don't have the option of having an automatic ice maker in your refrigerator, it's a lot better than filling up ice cube trays for ever and ever.
4 stars seems accurate.
there is a lot that i really like about this inexpensive ice maker, but there is one thing that it falls short on. it was really easy to setup and get things started after doing a self clean. it's pretty quiet too. i would say a bit quieter than our dishwasher that is one of the quietest ones you can get. the only issue i had, was that the ice tends to melt if you dont use it fairly quickly. this is fairly common in the more inexpensive units i have tested. this isnt a deal breaker though, because it makes ice quick enough to start a few minutes before you need it. a bit longer than brewing a cup of coffee from a single serve type machine.
So far this has performed as expected
Makes ice fairly fast
Color looks good
Easy to operate
Overall so far it's a great product
Good price point and I would recommend it to a friend or family member for purchase
